TELL CITY—Tell City trailed by only 10 points early in the third quarter, but five consecutive turnovers ended the Marksmen’s hopes of upsetting Mater Dei in girls basketball Thursday.
Mater Dei, the Class 2A defending state champion and ranked No. 1 again this year, scored eight points off the turnovers and beat the Marksmen 61-36.
“We had too many turnovers (24)—that’s for sure,” said Tell City Coach John Lyons. “And our turnovers turned straight into layups at the other end.
