TELL CITY – The United States Achievement Academy announced recently that Alexander J. Newton of Tell City has been named an All-American Scholar.

The USAA established the All-American Scholar At-Large Award program to offer recognition to superior students who excel in the academic disciplines, a news release stated. The all-American scholars must earn a 3.3 or higher grade-point average.
Newton, who attends Perry Central Junior-Senior High School, was nominated for this honor by the United States Achievement Academy. He will appear in the All-American Scholar At-Large Yearbook, which is published nationally.
“Recognizing and supporting our youth is more important than ever before in America’s history. Certainly, students recognized as all-American scholars should be congratulated and appreciated for their dedication to excellence and achievement,” said George Stevens, founder of the United States Achievement Academy.
Newton is the son of Traci Newton of Tell City. His grandparents are Ron and Donna Thompson and Joe and Judy Schneider, all of Tell City.
