TELL CITY - Entries are being accepted until Friday in a Perry County News-sponsored holiday art contest for children being held in conjunction with Nov. 25 Christmas in the Park festivities in Tell City.
The honor of lighting Tell City Christmas trees in the park will go to the winner of the contest. Perry County students in kindergarten through fifth grades are asked to draw a Christmas picture and submit it for the contest.
In addition to lighting the tree, the top artist will also be awarded a child's art set and have his or her artwork published in The Perry County News' Christmas Greetings section in December.
The artwork must be original and drawn by the child. No coloring book pages will be accepted. All artwork should be on paper no larger than 8 1/2 by 11 inches in size.
To enter, send the child's artwork along with the age, grade and school, parents' names, address and telephone number to Christmas in the Park Art Contest, c/o The Perry County News, 537 Main St., Tell City, IN 47586.
The child's phone number and specific street address will not be published in the newspaper. This information is necessary for notifying the winner only. The deadline to enter is Friday, Nov. 16.
Carolers to Join Santa in Park
Santa Claus will visit with local children in Tell City's City Hall Park after the Nov. 25 parade to pass out treats while carolers entertain with traditional Christmas songs from the City Hall balcony.
The Tell City Beautification Committee, The Perry County News and Tell City Jaycees are sponsoring the event. However, additional partners are needed for this event.
Any group, organization, business or individual interested in participating may call Kaye Kleeman at 547-5875 or City Hall at 547-5511.
