Musicians earn state medals

Director: Performers demonstrate independence

INDIANAPOLIS - Of the eight Tell City High School entries in state-level solo-and-ensemble competition Saturday, five earned gold medals, according to their director. Of the three that earned silver medals, two were only a half point shy of gold ratings and one was only a point away.

Earning gold medals were soloists Nick Hawkins, snare drum; Benji Koelling, drum set; Amber Mueller, trombone; Jessica Niswonger, alto saxophone and Sarah Roccia, clarinet.
