EVANSVILLE – Michaela and Jonah Kunkler, members of the Happy Hoosiers 4-H Club in Evansville, competed in their county’s 4-H team demonstration contest May 30 and were eligible to compete at the Indiana State Fair Aug. 4.

Michaela and Jonah demonstrated the differences between rhythm and lead guitars. Michaela demonstrated the rhythm concept on her acoustic guitar while performing part of Elton John’s “Crocodile Rock.”
Jonah demonstrated the lead concept on his electric guitar and performed part of Eddie Van Halen’s “Eruption.” To end their presentation, the two performed a 50s “doo wop” duet for the judges and audience members.
They both earned champion ribbons at the county level and blue ribbons at the state level for their guitar demonstrations and duet.
Michaela, 15, attends Mater Dei High School, and Jonah, 12, attends Resurrection Grade School.
They are the children of Bill and Julia (Schank) Kunkler of Evansville, both previously of Perry County, and the grandchildren of Larry and Margaret Schank of Cannelton and Jerome and Marlene Kunkler of Tell City.
