Mount Zion to host homecoming Sept. 16

SANTA CLAUS – Mount Zion Christian Church of Santa Claus will hold its 177th annual homecoming Sept. 16 at the church.
The guest speaker for the 10 a.m. morning service will be Brother Jim D. Bowyer, Sr. Bowyer has been preaching the gospel of Christ for more than 40 years. He is a graduate of Louisville Bible College and Cincinnati Christian University.
Bowyer has worked with World Mission Builders since 1976 and is currently director of overseas education with that organization. WMB has built more than 100 churches throughout the world. In his work with WMB Jim has traveled to four continents.

Bowyer serves as professor of missions at Louisville Bible College, teaching several classes. He also serves as family minister at Lyndon Christian Church in Louisville, Ky., when he is stateside, working with families, teaching, counseling and preaching as needed.
Bowyer and his wife, Rhonda, reside in the Louisville area. They have two grown children and two grandchildren.
The Woodsmen Quartet will be in concert starting at 1 p.m. They are from Batesville and were established in 2004. They have shared the platform with many well-known gospel groups, such as The Gold City, The Kingsmen, Signature Sound, Dixie Melody Boys and Dove Brothers. Their mission is to “uplift Christ, to show joy and love, and to bring honor to his Holy name.”
The morning worship service starts at 10 a.m. with Sunday school starting at 9. There will be a carry-in meal starting at 11:30 a.m. Meat, drinks and table service will be provided; anyone is welcomed to bring a covered dish or dessert.
The church is located approximately 2 miles south of Santa Claus on Indiana 245. Mount Zion was one of the early churches of the Restoration movement established in this part of the country. Dr. Ronald Frazier, Thd., is the current preacher. All are welcome to attend.
