LEOPOLD - Mitchell broke open a pitchers' duel with six runs in the sixth inning to beat Perry Central 6-2 in PLAC baseball Monday.
Perry Central left-hander Wes Linette and Mitchell's Steve Tomlinson matched scoreless innings until the sixth.
Linette struck out the first batter he faced in the sixth. Then "I think he got a little tired," said Perry Central Coach Ty Guillaume.
The next four batters singled, walked, singled and walked to get the big inning started. Linette was relieved by Andrew Harpenau before the inning was over.
