-A A +A

MITCHELL—Perry Central did not hit enough outside shots and gave up too many of them in a 50-37 PLAC girls basketball loss to Mitchell Saturday.
Sami Howe hit seven three-point shots, including five in the first half, as she led Mitchell with 23 points.
“We just weren’t communicating with each other,” Perry Central Coach Bill Dickerson said of Howe’s ability to keep getting open.
At the other end Perry Central hit 38.5 percent from the field, including 2 of 10 from three-point range.
Center Ashley Graves hit 5 of 7 from the field and led the Commodores with 15 points, though she had an off night at the free-throw line (5 for 11) after hitting 85.1 percent (40 of 47) in her previous eight games.
Lynsay Goffinet added 12 points on 5 of 9 field-goal shooting, including 2 of 3 from three-point range.
But the rest of the Commodores hit only 5 of 23 from the field, including 0 of 6 from three-point range.
The Commodores committed 18 turnovers.
“We’re going to have to get better ball movement on the offensive end,” said Dickerson.
Graves grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked six shots. Brittany Parker added seven rebounds and Morgan Richardson had four assists.
Perry Central fell to 11-9 and finished 4-2 in the PLAC. Mitchell improved to 12-5 overall and 4-2 in the conference.
The Commodores will visit Southridge tonight at 7.
