McCoy earns president’s volunteer service award

PERRY COUNTY – Bethany McCoy, 9, earned the president’s volunteer service award for volunteering 50 hours in the community.

She helped at local food pantries, The Clothing Closet and The Table of Blessings as well as nine hours working at the Little Warriors benefit in March.  

She is the only Girl Scout in Perry County to receive this honor, one of only a few in the Girl Scouts of Southwest Indiana Council region and the only one in her age group.  

She received a signed letter of thanks from President Barack Obama, a certificate and a pin for her sash. McCoy is the daughter of Christy and Troy McCoy and a member of Junior Troop 222. She is a fourth-grader at William Tell Elementary School.
