Marksmen spike Pike Central; now 6-0 in PAC

TELL CITY—McKenzie Hayes made 18 kills as Tell City defeated Pike Central 25-12, 25-10, 25-10 in PAC volleyball Tuesday to remain unbeaten in the conference.
Tell City improved to 6-0 in the PAC, still one match ahead of second-place Heritage Hills with two conference matches left.
Hayes needs just six kills tonight against Mater Dei to become the first Tell City player to reach 2,000 for her career.
She also made two blocks and served four aces Tuesday.
Kassidie Hayes added six kills and six blocks (four solos) to Tell City’s attack and Logan Flannagan made four kills.
Charissa Lahee had 23 assists and Stori Beard made 16 digs.
Beard served 20 points, including five aces. Cassie Bryant added 12 points (three aces).
Beard served 10 consecutive points as the Marksmen built a 22-6 lead in the second game against the overmatched Chargers.
The first game was tied 3-3 before McKenzie Hayes served six consecutive points with the aid of kills by Flannagan and Kassidie Hayes.
Tell City split two non-conference matches Saturday at Mount Vernon, beating Vincennes Lincoln 25-14, 25-11 but losing to Mount Vernon 25-16, 25-20.
McKenzie Hayes made nine kills, five blocks, six digs and three ace serves against Vincennes.
Kassidie Hayes added seven kills and four blocks and Flannagan made five kills and three blocks. Lahee had 20 assists.
Beard made 10 digs and Taylor Benningfield added seven. Hannah Schaefer served 13 points.
McKenzie Hayes made 12 kills and 11 digs against Mount Vernon.
Flannagan added five kills, Lahee 20 assists, and Beard 14 digs.
No Marksman made more than one block.
“We just did not play very well against Mount Vernon,” said Tell City Coach Dalonda Hayes. “We were a little flat in every aspect of the game.”
Mount Vernon improved to 17-3.
Tell City’s JV team beat Vincennes 21-25, 25-16, 15-7 but lost to Mount Vernon 25-19, 21-25, 15-7 and to Pike Central 25-21, 20-25, 15-6.
