EVANSVILLE—Kassidie Hayes had 12 kills, 13 assists and seven ace serves as Tell City defeated Evansville North 25-14, 25-20, 25-11 in a volleyball season opener Monday.
“We served really well—we had 12 aces,” said Tell City Coach Dalonda Hayes. “We’ve been working on placing the ball a lot in practice.”
Logan Flannagan made nine kills and Emma Kohnert six to back Kassidie Hayes in the hitting department.
Kohnert, a freshman playing her first varsity match, “played really well,” said Dalonda Hayes.
Natalie Peter had 15 assists to aid the hitters.
Flannagan and Mary Steen each made two blocks. Flannagan also led the Marksmen in digs with five.
Cassie Bryant served two aces.
“We lost track of focus and gave up some bad passes on serve-receive for a while in the second game,” said Dalonda Hayes. “But it was a good opening game overall. We played well as a team.”
North won the JV match 25-13, 25-18.
Natalie Sanders and Brenee Leibering each made two kills and one block for Tell City and Madison Mathena added two blocks.
Sanders served two aces and Shayna Vaquero served four points. Kelsey Gowers made 12 digs.
Tell City will host Southridge tonight, with the JV match starting at 5.
