TELL CITY—Tell City won two tie-breakers to beat Gibson Southern 3-2 in PAC boys tennis Thursday.
Jake Swihart defeated Nathan McClain 7-6 (7-5), 6-0 in No. 1 singles.
The Marksmen’s other tie-breaker victory came in No. 2 doubles, where Jack Ramsey and Chandler Lacy beat Riley Farmer and Elliott Crow 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.
Zach Fisher dominated Braden Taylor 6-0, 6-1 in No. 2 singles for Tell City’s other win.
Gibson Southern’s Abe Kiesel survived a first-set loss to beat Jeff Yeung 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 in No. 3 singles.
Keanan Alstadt and Tyler Clark beat Kevin Yeung and Luke Thomas 6-4, 6-1 in No. 1 doubles.
“This was Gibson’s first conference loss in three years,” noted Tell City Coach Nick Weyer. “It was a good win for us, a step in the right direction. But there is still lots of work to be done.
“The lineup may not be settled; we may need to reposition a few players in order to maximize our team’s potential.”
Tell City, 1-1 overall and in the conference, will host Forest Park today at 4:30 p.m.
