Marksman girls outswim Gibson Southern, Tecumseh

LYNNVILLE—Alyson Goffinet won two individual events to propel Tell City to victory in a girls triangular swim meet Thursday.

Tell City scored 155 points, Gibson Southern 108, and Tecumseh 8.

Goffinet won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:28.92 and the 500 free in 6:47.09.

Chelsea Malone, Amanda Wagner, Erika Hauenstein and C.J. Fentress won all three relays for the Marksmen.

They swam the 200 medley relay in 1:58.65, the 200 free relay in 1:47.36, and the 400 free relay in 3:57.99.

Hauenstein also won the 200 individual medley in 2:31.73 and Fentress won the 100 free in 1:00.89.

Wagner won the 50 free in 26.27 and Malone placed second in 26.46.

Hana Reed won the diving with 207.15 points.

Haley Ward and Elizabeth Bishop placed second and third in the 100 butterfly in 1:23.63 and 1:23.72, respectively.

Other Marksmen placing second were Loren Braunecker in the 200 free, Bailey Malone in the 200 IM in 2:33.91, Charissa Lahee in the 100 free in 1:05.89, and Jessica Ballman in the 100 backstroke in 1:15.46.

Amber Fentress placed third in the 100 back in 1:17.75 and Taylor Childers took third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:27.67.

Tell City, 17-8, will return to Tecumseh’s pool for the PAC meet this week.

The swimming trials will be Thursday at 5:30 p.m., the diving trials Saturday at 8:30 a.m., and the finals in all events Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

Tell City won the PAC title last year and is one of the favorites this year, along with Southridge and Heritage Hills.
