MOUNT VERNON – Marion Thomas “Pete” Russell, 80, of Mount Vernon passed away Thursday afternoon, Jan. 26, 2012, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
He was born July 16, 1931, in Troy, the son of Anthony and Ellen (Dunn) Russell. He married Joann Benner June 21, 1958.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Doris Ray and Homer Russell and two sisters, Mary Glover and Pearl Stolz.
Marion retired from ADM Milling in Mount Vernon. He loved to rabbit hunt and go fishing. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joann; two brothers, Anthony Russell of Tell City and Larry Russell of Cannelton; three sisters, Nellie Hempfling of Cannelton, Elizabeth Lindauer of Troy and Fern Laverty of Hartford, Conn.; a nephew he raised, Ralph Young of New Harmony; sisters- and brothers-in-law Geraldine and William Winebarger of Poseyville and Sandra and Fred Delashmit of Mount Vernon and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the Posey County EMS and Deaconess Hospital CICU for their care and compassion shown to Pete and his family.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 30, at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mount Vernon with burial in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
