LEOPOLD – Marie I. Peter, 90, passed away Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.

She was born in Leopold Feb. 13, 1921, to August and Clara (Goffinet) Wheatley. Marie was united in marriage May 14, 1946, to the late Fred Peter.
She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Evansville. An avid gardener, she loved flowers and vegetable gardens and enjoyed fishing with her husband.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Fred Peter Nov. 29, 1989; her brothers, William, Leonard and Albert Wheatley and a sister, Myrtle James.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, (today) at St. Paul Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Augustine Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. today at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home.
