TELL CITY – Tell City’s Marching Marksmen were ranked sixth out of seven bands competing in Class AA at the Evansville North Invitational Saturday, but improved their score by more than 16 points over their previous outing.

“It was a much better show,” Director Natasha Edmondson said Wednesday morning. “We had our whole show on the field and things went a lot better this weekend.”

“A couple of minor music changes, some body-movement issues and some other little details” still need to be worked out, she added.

The score improvement pleased her because last weekend’s results were well over the 52 points needed to advance from district competition. The Marching Marksmen will take the field in Jasper for that event at 11:05 a.m. Tell City time Saturday.

“I think we’ll do pretty well,” Edmondson said. “The kids proved they can perform the whole show and can do it pretty well. I think we’ll make it through.

The News erroneously reported Sept. 13 the name of the man who wrote the Marksmen’s show for this year. Indiana University graduate Adam Wiencken wrote the show.
