PERRY COUNTY – A man local authorities were in search of Sunday after a domestic dispute at a Troy home was located in Virginia.

According to Perry County Sheriff Lee Chestnut, Vincent D. Reilly drove to his mother’s house in Virginia after an argument with his wife.

A press release issued Sunday by the sheriff’s department said officers responded to the home in reference to a domestic disturbance with a subject who may have barricaded himself inside with a firearm.

A woman in the home was able to escape with a small child, both unharmed.

By the time officers entered the home, Reilly had already left.

Reilly’s wife had alerted investigators that her husband may be in possession of multiple handguns, was possibly suicidal and feared for his safety. Chestnut said deputies attempted to contact Reilly as part of a welfare check but those efforts were not initially successful.

Reilly returned from out of state earlier this week and turned himself in to the Perry County Jail. He was charged with Class B felony domestic battery, and is being held on a $1,500 bond.
