MOUNT VERNON—Chelsea Malone placed second in two events  to lead the Tell City-based Tri-County Swim Club in the Southern Indiana Swim Conference winter meet last weekend.

She placed third in the 100 free in 57.78 and fourth in the 200 back in 2:23.13.

Stephen Houle placed fifth in age-11-12 boys 100 and 50 breaststrokes in 1:40.63 and 44.05 respectively, sixth in the 50 butterfly in 50.03, and 10th in the 50 free.

Other swimmers placing in the top 10 were:

Elliot Reed, fourth in 9-10 boys 100 butterfly in 2:41.95

Trent Harding, fifth in 13-14 boys 200 breast in 3:55.06

Spencer Fest, ninth in 9-10 boys 50 breast

Swimmers moving on to the divisional meet at Jasper this weekend are: Malone in the 200 back, 200 free and 100 free; Amanda Wagner in the 50 free, 200 breast, 200 free, 200 individual medley and 100 free; Harding in the 50 free; and first-year swimmer Houle in the 50 breast and 50 free.

“I’m probably most proud of Stephen’s performance,” said Tell City Coach Lewis Anderson. “He cut about 20 seconds off all his times from what he was swimming this past September. To qualify for divisionals your first year is unheard of. He’s come a long way from the beginning of the year.”
