TELL CITY - A new writer welcomed to the Perry County News will write feature stories and handle social news for the print and online versions of the newspaper.

Trista Lutgring, a native of Tell City, is a 2004 graduate of Tell City High School. She earned her undergraduate degree at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Ky., graduating in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in news-editorial journalism. She also worked as a sports correspondent for the News earlier this year.

She is the daughter of Jeff and Frieda Lutgring of Tell City.

She fills the position held for more than three years by Janet Robb, who recently accepted a job in Louisville, Ky.

"I enjoy writing very much and I look at this as an opportunity to better myself and hopefully the community. I am really excited about working at the News and getting to know the community and county where I grew up a little better," Lutgring said.

As a new feature writer, Lutgring will be handling community news and events as well as writing feature stories.

"We welcome Trista to the staff. As a hometown journalist, she knows our community well and will serve readers well," Editor Vince Luecke said.

Lutgring can be reached at the News office at 547-3424 or by e-mail at lifestyles@perrycountynews.com.
