TELL CITY - To focus residents' attention on the threats posed by tornadoes and thunderstorms, Gov. Mitch Daniels has proclaimed March 15-21 as Severe Weather Preparedness Week. The National Weather Service, working with Indiana State Police, the Indiana State Emergency Management Agency, Hoosier school districts and media will conduct a statewide test of communication systems Wednesday, March 18, between 9 and 9:30 a.m. and between 6 and 6:30 p.m.
Both drills will be announced as tests beforehand. Perry County’s system of warning sirens will be tested Wednesday morning.
Friday, March 19 is the make-up drill day if weather postpones Wednesday’s drill.
The goal of Severe Weather Preparedness Week is to better educate people about the hazards of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes and to help everyone be prepared should severe weather occur.
