Local Girl Scouts hit the Big Apple!

PERRY COUNTY – Perry County Girl Scouts traveled to New York City June 7 – 11.

Seventeen Girl Scouts, five leaders, one Girl Scouts of Southern Indiana council member and 24 friends and family members enjoyed three full days of sightseeing with Taylor Tours of Tell City. Jim Ashby accompanied the group.
At the National Girl Scout Headquarters, the girls toured the museum and archives. Other places of interest were Ellen’s Stardust Diner, NBC Studio tour, Top of the Rock at Rockefeller center, the St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Battery Park, the 9-11 Memorial site, South Street Seaport, Time Square and Harlem.
The group was seen on television in the outside crowds of the Today Show, rode the subway and went to the Broadway production of “Mamma Mia.”
A New York guide led the group on an exciting day of touring the “Big Apple.” Stops were made at Lincoln Center, Central Park, St. John the Divine Cathedral, Greenwich Village and Chinatown.
The group also enjoyed dining at the Heartland Brewery in the Theatre District and Hard Rock Café.
They also shopped on Fifth Avenue, FAO Swartz and in Times Square.
