TELL CITY – Lloyd F. Hauser, 75, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012.
He was born in Perry County Dec. 10, 1936. His parents were the late Arthur and Catherine “Katie” (Peter) Hauser. Also preceding him in death were a sister, Roberta Boerste and a brother, Hubert Hauser.
Lloyd married Betty Ann Schroeder Aug. 30, 1958, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City. A 1955 graduate of Tell City High School, he then graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in education from Indiana State University. In 1997, he retired as an industrial-arts teacher from Tell City-Troy Township Schools after 38 years as an educator.
At an early age, working alongside his father, Lloyd learned the art of making horseradish. He was generous, sharing it with family and friends. A past director of Anderson Township Fire Department, Lloyd enjoyed the beauty of nature, hunting, gardening, Purdue University sports and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Southern Indiana Draft Horse and Mule Association.
Since 1965, Lloyd and his wife, Betty, were members of a Catholic study club.
Surviving him are his wife of 53 years, Betty; daughters Barbara King (Dave) of Santa Claus and Lisa Lutgring of Leopold; his sons, Mike Hauser (Christine) of Tell City, Jake Hauser (Julie) of Tell City, Tom Hauser (Beth) of Rome and John Hauser and Dan Hauser, both of Tell City; his sisters, Augusta Hagedorn (Raymond) of Sellersburg and Regina Hauser of Tell City; brothers Cyril Hauser and Earl Hauser (Faye), both of Tell City; grandchildren Nikki, Jennifer, Stephanie, Nick, Sean, David, Catie, Olivia, Andy, Ben, Coulten, Austin, Kendall, Nic, Lindsay, Aaron, Sarah and Jenna.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial in St. Mark’s Cemetery. The Rev. Dennis Duvelius will officiate.
Visitation will be from 2 until 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, (today) and from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. Friday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel.
