Last week Tell City High School English students designed T-shirt logos from the English epic poem, "Beowulf." The poem, which was written between 600 and 700 AD, is one of the earliest forms of British literature, said Tell City High School English teacher Don Hitz. In the work, Beowulf, a hero of the Geats, battles three enemies. The first, Grendel, attacks a mead hall and its inhabitants. After defeating Grendel, Beowulf then fights Grendel's mother and after becoming king, he fights a dragon which mortally wounds him and dies.
