TELL CITY - As a recipient of funding to provide weatherization services in Perry, Spencer and Crawford counties, Lincoln Hills Development Corp. is accepting applications for assistance from residents.

Through the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, LHDC receives federal Department of Energy and Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program funds, as well as State Weatherization Energy Enhancement Program money, to provide weatherization-program assistance to eligible homeowners and renters.

Basic services include weatherstripping, insulation, caulking and other means to stop air infiltration and improve energy conservation.

Other measures, such as repair or replacement of inefficient furnaces, water heaters, stoves and refrigerators may be performed as well.

The overall goal of the program is to conserve energy in homes and reduce long-term energy costs. A recent study of LHDC's weatherization program found that homes receiving assistance had an average reduction of 18 percent in energy usage, resulting in significantly lower utility bills.

For further information, or to apply for assistance, contact Tammy Thompson, LHDC Community Services Program director, at 547-3435, Ext. 231.
