LETTER: Weekend food backpack ministry closes successful year; its supporters were many

As the 2011-12 school year ended, so did the Weekend Food Backpack Program. St. Paul Ministry of Charity committee believes that the year has been very successful in terms of fulfilling our mission to reach out to those in our community needing support.

During the year, 120 students from the three county school systems took home 3,396 bags of food in their backpacks to help meet their food needs over the weekend when school breakfasts and lunches were not available.
