LETTER: Thanks for making Dogwood Fest a success

-A A +A

The Rome Community Center and the Rome Methodist Church want to thank so many people for the wonderful day we had here during the Dogwood Festival in April. Even though the weather was gloomy and misty, people were kind enough to wait in a long line to eat our meal.

We apologize for running out of food, but it is truly very difficult to estimate the correct amount needed, even though we’ve been doing this for many years.

Thank you to the Perry County News for the advertising prior to the day and the coverage afterward. Jim Krutz gave free wagon rides, and John Guillaume and SweetWater band entertained. Due to the weather on Saturday, the Southern Indiana Draft Horse and Mule Club was unable to show plowing and discing with horses.

Several vendors were present to add interest to the day.

The day would not be possible if it were not for the hard working people and friends of Rome who donated so much in goods, money, and good old-fashioned hard work. Most people have no idea how much effort goes into a day like this, especially since ours is such a small community. Once again, we thank all of you who helped in any way, and a special thank you to those who have been visiting us for many years, and a welcome to those of you who came for the first time. We hope you enjoyed yourself and we will see you again in October for the Heritage Festival.
