LETTER: St. Paul community picnic was a big hit

-A A +A

St. Paul Church Picnic 2012 is history, but God again blessed us with a beautiful, warm, breezy day in the park.

My list of thank yous must start at the ministry center with Tammy and especially Mandy. You helped by guiding me in the right direction with all the rules and regulations. Sister Mary Emma was again my moral support and that meant a lot. Valeria and Vickie were helpful in the various planning stages.

Thanks to the men behind the scenes who were very much needed to set the picnic up and tear down. Those were Steve Hawkins, Kenny Ziegelgruber, Bill Amos, Mark Oberhausen, Shawn Jones, Vernie Harpenau, Jim Black, Ken Smith, Jeff Simpson, Keith Holman and St. Paul Boy Scout Troop 192.

Thanks to the booth captains and their volunteers; they added a little extra fun to the day. Thanks to Kathy Vaught, Margie Roberts, Jerry Malone and their many volunteers for the delicious dinners that were served. To Harriet Conner, my master of ceremonies for the day and to her husband, Tim, her sound man and provider of music.

To my husband, Tom, for his help and support. To Carol Smith for her special help.

Thanks to Carolyn Adkins and her lady volunteers who took care of the sale of cash- and quilt-raffle tickets, not only on picnic day, but at Noble’s IGA and Cash Saver. To Debbie Elder, and her expert counters of money, thank you.

I appreciate the many businesses who contributed, either money or objects for the auction.

A very special thank you to Tracey Coyle. She is the ultimate when it comes to arranging and running the auction, I don’t think I could do without her. Her volunteers for that auction were awesome.

Thank you St. Paul Quilter Ladies for the donation of the two gorgeous quilts that were raffled off, to the volunteers who baked goodies for the day, to those who brought in items and pick-a-jars, to the volunteers who helped get the cash and quilt tickets ready for mail, to all the people who bought their raffle tickets, to all the people who came to the park and supported our church.

Thank you, Father Dennis, for your prayers and support in this annual affair, and finally, thanks to the city of Tell City for allowing us the use of the park and to Street Commissioner Jeff Everly and his street department for their assistance.

And to those important people I didn’t mention by name, I’m sorry, for this day wouldn’t have been so successful without you.

Thank you all and God bless you.
