LETTER: Anderson Woods counts on United Way help

-A A +A

We at Anderson Woods would like to thank United Way of Perry County and the many individuals and businesses who donate to them for their part in helping us further our mission of serving those with special needs in our community.

For many years now, United Way has provided substantial financial support to our summer camp located near Bristow.

That support goes a long way toward allowing us to provide a unique, quality camp experience for children and adults with developmental disabilities, many of whom are directly from our local Perry County community.

The generous funds we receive from United Way allow us to keep the attendance fees very reasonable, which makes attending camp a reality for many of our campers who would otherwise be unable to afford it.

In addition to providing this wonderful outdoor experience to our campers, we are able to provide summer employment and volunteer opportunities to many of our local youth. Because our staff members receive scholarship in exchange for their service to our campers, much of the United Way donations go directly to helping fund post-secondary education to youth from the Perry County community. As a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, Anderson Woods Inc. relies on camper fees, the generosity of private benefactors, and the much-appreciated continued financial support of United Way of Perry County to remain operational.

We strongly encourage those in our local community to assist United Way in its efforts at making a difference in our community, and we thank again those of you who donate to their worthy cause.
