As an advocate for the more than 120,000 Indiana residents who are struggling with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, and the estimated 328,000 family members and friends who help care for them, I want to thank the Indiana legislature – particularly Rep. Bill Friend, R-Macy, and Gov. Mike Pence – for their efforts to enact a new law requiring police officers to be trained in how to interact with people who have Alzheimer’s or another dementia.
