BRANCHVILLE - A day after his arrest on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, Indiana conservation officer and candidate for Perry County Sheriff Joe Lackey apologized for his actions and said he would suspend his campaign while he deals with personal issues.
"I'm not going to actively campaign for now," Lackey, 52, said in a phone call to The News Thursday morning. He was released from the Spencer County Jail Wednesday night, where he was taken after being arrested in Tell City by part-time sheriff's deputy Roger Smith.
