TELL CITY – Kindergarten enrollment for the Tell City-Troy Township School Corp. will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. March 8 for all children entering school for the first time. Parents and children should enter through the main door and follow signs. All children registering for kindergarten will be given a folder of information.
To enter kindergarten for the 2012-13 school year, a child must be at least 5 years old on or before Aug. 1. A child does not have to enroll in kindergarten at age 5. If parents believe the child is not ready, the child may enter kindergarten at age 6.
Parents should bring with them the following: the child to be enrolled, to give him or her an opportunity to see the school; your child’s official birth certificate, not a hospital certificate; your child’s social security card; a record of immunization shots. This is very important as all school children are required by law to be fully immunized. The record should have the dates of immunizations. The Varicella immunization is required; three emergency phone numbers other than your home or place of employment; if you live at a rural route address, the 911 address is needed.
Children will not be enrolled if the parent does not have a copy of the child’s birth certificate and a complete immunization record, including the Varicella, immunization with them.
The entire process takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes depending on how many others are enrolling at the time. There will be forms to complete, so it is best if one parent accompanies the child as the other completes the information.
