TELL CITY—Megan Thomas singled home the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning as Kids with Claise edged Celebrations 9-8 to win Tell City’s age-10-12 girls softball playoff tourney Tuesday.

Kids with Claise thus finished the season undefeated, winning the regular-season title with an 11-0 record and going 2-0 in the single-elimination playoff tourney.

Celebrations, the regular-season runner-up with a 7-4 record, gave Kids with Claise everything they could handle in Tuesday’s game, though.

Celebrations tied the game 7-7 with two runs in the fourth inning on three walks, an infield single by Grace James, a passed ball and a wild pitch.

Celebrations took an 8-7 lead in the top of the fifth with a run on two walks, a passed ball and a wild pitch.

Kids with Claise tied the score in the bottom of that inning. Miranda Claise walked, stole second and third bases, and scored on a passed ball.

That set the stage for the dramatic finish in the bottom of the sixth.

Latisha James led off with a walk. One out later she advanced to second on an error and then scored on Thomas’ single to left.

Thomas went 3 for 4 to lead Kids with Claise’s six-hit attack. She drove in three runs.

Morgan Richardson added a two-run inside-the-park home run.

Kyra Maddle hit a double to lead Celebrations’ four-hit attack.

Kids with Claise beat Goffinet Homes 7-5 earlier in the evening.

Celebrations nipped Papa John’s 12-11 on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth in Tuesday’s other semifinal game.
