BLOOMINGTON – Indiana University’s cheerleading program has selected Lindsay Kast as a member of its Crimson Cheer Squad for the 2012-13 season.

According to Julie Horine, head coach, the talent level during tryouts was outstanding. The cheer program is coming off of its most successful year ever, winning the 2012 UCA National Championship for the All-Girls Division and finishing No. 4 in Small Co-Ed.
Kast said she is very excited for the opportunity to represent Indiana University and cheer for men’s basketball, football, women’s basketball and volleyball. Supporting the Hoosiers is a top priority, she added, and she looks forward to the competition.
“I’ve been involved in cheer and gymnastics since I was 3 years old. I love cheerleading and the competition,” said Kast. About her selection, she added “IU has always been my pick for college, so it is very exciting and also an honor to be able to cheer for the Hoosiers.”
Kast said she is also looking forward to cheering under the direction of Tony Nash, who coached the Team USA All-Girls team this year.
Participating in all-star cheerleading for eight years, Kast advanced to a skill level 5. Her team, Cheer Zone All-Stars, won eight national championship titles. She was also a member of the Tell City Marksmen cheer team for two years.
Kast is a 2012 Tell City Junior-Senior High School graduate, receiving her diploma after three years. She plans to major in political science and attend law school at IU.
She is the daughter of Jeff and Nikki Kast of Tell City and the granddaughter of Glenn and Anna Hamilton of Cloverport, Ky., Allen Kast of Tell City and the late Nancy Kast.
