NEW ALBANY—Anjan Kashyab of Tell City teamed with Tyler Haas of Dubois County to win the age-14-and-under boys doubles division of the Sammy Pedan Fire Cracker Junior Open USTA tourney Sunday.
Kashyab and Haas shut out Garret French and Cody Mamon of Sellersburg 6-0, 6-0 in the first round.
In the finals Hass and Kashyab beat Will Andres of New Albany and Jacob Quinkert of Sellersburg 6-0, 6-3.
Earlier Kashyab played in 16-and-under boys singles in the same tourney, as he is maxed out of ranking points for 14 Singles for this level of tourneys in USTA.
In the round of 32 Kashyab defeated Nate Head of Bedford 7-6 (6-2), 6-2 and Nicholas Quinkert of Sellersburg 6-3, 6-1 to reach the quarterfinals.
However in the quarterfinals Chris Bunch of Bedford beat Kashyab 6-3, 6-3.
Kashyab is 13 and will be a freshman at Tell City High School this fall.
He is the son of son of Balaji and Ramyaa Kashyab.
