James, Pierrard, Theis win PC’s MVP awards

By LARRY GOFFINET Sports Editor LEOPOLD—Grace James, Aaron Pierrard and Jillian Theis received Most Valuable Player awards at Perry Central’s volleyball and cross country awards program Thursday.


James received the award in volleyball after setting a school record for assists in a season and finishing second on the team in blocks and third in digs. Pierrard received the award in boys cross country and Theis, a freshman, won it in girls cross country. Three Commodores received honorable mention on academic all-state teams: Callie Poehlein and Marie Schwartz in girls cross country an Sydney Goffinet in volleyball. The school’s football awards program will be held later.
