The Journal-Democrat welcomes its newest employee, Don Steen.
Steen, who was raised in Ferdinand and Tell City, is a 2006 graduate of Tell City High School. He earned his undergraduate degree in history at the University of Southern Indiana.
While there, he worked as an intern at the university’s archive, instilling within him, he said, a deep appreciation for the hidden stories of communities across the nation.
“I hope to find in my new station a means to preserve our community’s struggles and triumphs against the passage of time,” Steen said. “Our shared history can only be lost if we allow it to die.”
The new employee will serve in several responsibilities including administrative functions as well as writing feature articles and covering governmental functions.
“Don’s educational background makes him good fit for our paper,” said Editor Vince Luecke. “He’s very eager to work with the community and we’re excited to add his talents to the staff.”
Steen can be reached at the Rockport office by calling 649-9196 or by sending e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
