IDEM wants to sample water from local wells

Program offered to residents at no cost

By Vince Luecke

TELL CITY - The Indiana Department of Environmental Management is conducting a statewide groundwater quality survey and is looking for residential well owners in Perry County to participate. IDEM is in the first year of sampling, and hopes to revisit each of the sites annually, said Kris Vance, coordinator for Lincoln Hills Rural Conservation and Development.

The sampling won't cost homeowners anything and they'll receive copies of the results. Individual results will be kept confidential with collected data helping to gauge the quality of groundwater in the area.
