LEOPOLD—Luke Hubert pitched a two-hitter as Perry Central beat Springs Valley 4-2 in eighth grade baseball last Thursday.
Hubert walked three and struck out 10 in the five-inning game.
Adam Dauby and Darren Craig each hit a double to lead Perry Central’s offense, with Craig’s driving in a run.
“I’ve got four pretty dominant pitchers who are going to make an impact in high school,” said Perry Central Coach Rick Graves, listing Hubert, Dakota Brewster, Kyle Goldman and left-hander Ethan Myler.
Hubert pitched a one-hitter against Orleans June 4.
“We had a pretty competitive cub schedule (in the spring),” Graves said. “We beat Tell City once, beat Heritage Hills, and had two pretty close games against South Spencer.
“South Spencer has a pretty good team and it was our first game (in May) and they’d already played 21.”
Springs Valley beat Perry Central 5-3 in last Thursday’s second game.
Hubert hit a double and a single to lead Perry Central. Dauby added an RBI single.
Goldman pitched a complete game, giving up seven hits and one walk and striking out seven.
Perry Central will host Crawford County Friday at 5:30 p.m. for an eighth grade game followed by a seventh grade game.
