DUBOIS—Northeast Dubois jumped to a 17-0 lead en route to a 51-28 girls basketball victory over Tell City Thursday.
“I can’t remember a possession on those first 17 points where we got a stop,” said Tell City Coach John Lyons. “If they missed a shot (in that stretch), they scored on the rebound.”
The Jeeps entered the game 5-1 and ranked No. 5 in the state in Class A.
“They’re good, but they’re not that much better than we are,” said Lyons. “They shot the ball really well.”
Tell City started the game in a matchup zone defense but quickly switched to man-to-man after the Jeeps hit three-point shots on their first two possessions.
The Marksmen never got their offense in gear. McKenzie Hayes led them with 10 points and no one else scored more than five.
Hayes grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked four shots. Kassidie Hayes added six rebounds.
Senior forward Nicole Dodd led Northeast Dubois with 23 points.
Tell City, 5-2, will visit Tecumseh Thursday at 7 p.m.
