TELL CITY – Meeting Nov. 26, Perry County Memorial Hospital's board of trustees approved the purchase of a new Intranet Web portal designed to centralize in-house communications by staff.
The board also approved the purchase of new flooring for the hospital's front lobby and an annual productivity bonus for employees.
The new Intranet Web portal is designed to expand and centralize communications among hospital employees. The software offers the ability to develop, review, track and publish policies and procedures, archive those documents and provides a search tool. The package, complete with software license, installation, training and one year of maintenance, will cost $22,971.50.
According to a Web site maintained by the portal's designer, located at www. hospitalportal.net, the system also allows staff and physicians to easily relay information to one another, simplifies access to pertinent information, provides online training opportunities and reduces paper costs.
Conner Floor Covering in Tell City was awarded the job of replacing flooring in the hospital's front lobby. The existing tile floor is cracking and holes have had to be patched. New carpeting will be installed in the area and will match flooring on other areas of the first floor. Ceramic tile and flooring in two lobby restrooms will also be replaced. Cost of the project is $22,930, well under the $35,000 budgeted for the work.
As in year's past, trustees granted a bonus to employs to recognize their hard work. This year's $215,000 will be divided among full- and part-time employees based on hours worked. The bonus amount for 2008 is unchanged from last year.
Trustees' next meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
