Perry Central, Cannelton to crown royalty this weekend

PERRY COUNTY – Perry Central and Cannelton high school have planned their basketball homecomings for this weekend.

Perry Central Homecoming

Perry Central High School seniors have nominated Rachel Cummings, Sedona Hemmings, Stephanie Robinson, Brian Farmer, Clinton Schank and Nic Seger as the 2009 PCHS Basketball Homecoming candidates.

The student body will find out who the new king and queen are Friday between the Commodore vs. Crawford County Wolfpack varsity and junior varsity games. The JV game begins at 5:30 p.m.  

Queen Candidates

Rachel Cummings of Doolittle Mills is the daughter of Tim and Tammy Cummings. While in high school she’s been involved with the art and pep clubs and she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

After graduation, Cummings plans to attend Ivy Tech in Evansville and get married.

Sedona Hemmings, the daughter of Bridget and Donnie Goffinet of Tell City, participates in cheerleading. She enjoys spending time with her friends and plans to attend college after graduation.

Stephanie Robinson of St. Croix is the daughter of Toni Robinson and Tracey Dwiggins and is a member of the art club. She enjoys hanging out with her friends and after graduation plans to attend college to become a neonatal nurse and get married.

King Candidates

Brian Farmer of Tobinsport is the son of Brian Farmer and Carlene Farmer. During high school, he has participated in football and enjoys hanging out with friends, hunting and fishing. He plans to attend Ivy Tech to become an electrician after graduation.

Clinton Schank, son of Brian and Becky Schank of German Ridge, has been involved with baseball, football and We the Youth of Perry County while in high school. He enjoys hunting, fishing, four-wheel riding and hanging out with friends.

After graduation he plans to attend college to major in the electrical field.

Nic Seger of Leopold is the son of Vicky and Jerry Guillaume. During high school he has played in the Central Perry Soccer League and in his spare time he enjoys playing soccer and spending time with friends and family. Seger is undecided about plans after graduation.

Cannelton Homecoming

Four Cannelton High School senior girls and four senior boys will vie for the 2009 basketball homecoming crown Saturday. The royalty will be named between the junior-varsity and varsity games against Rock Creek Christian Academy. The JV game begins at 5:30 p.m.

Queen Candidates

Katie Patton is the daughter of Ray and Paula Patton. While in high school she has been involved with cheerleading, basketball, volleyball, National Honor Society, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, student council and Spanish and art clubs.

Patton plans to attend the University of Evansville to major in sociology.

Brook Powers, the daughter of Lisa and Tally Havener and Brett Powers, plans to attend the University of Evansville to major in nursing after graduation. She’s been involved with volleyball, softball, student council, yearbook, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, Spanish Club, Promoting Achievement by Choosing Kindness at School, We the Youth of Perry County and Hoosier Girls State while in high school.

Powers is also the Indiana High School Athletic Association’s Role Model for Cannelton High School for the 2008-09 school year.

Megan Whitworth is the daughter of Denisa Whitworth and Donald Whitworth. During high school she’s been involved with volleyball, softball, cheerleading, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, PACKS, NHS and student council. After graduation, Whitworth plans to attend the University of Evansville to major in elementary education. She’s also been a counselor at Glenn Wood Hills Camp.

Lauren Yaggi is the daughter of John and Cindy Yaggi and plans to major in nursing at the University of Evansville. She’s been involved with NHS, student council, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, PACKS, yearbook staff and Spanish and art clubs.

King Candidates

Tyler Aud is the son of Kelli Aud and has been involved in basketball, baseball, Big Brothers-Big Sisters and student council. Aud has also been an instructional assistant for junior Bulldogs. He plans to attend Western Kentucky University.

Dillon Powers is the grandson of Kenneth and Doris Powers. He has participated in basketball, baseball, NHS, Big Brothers-Big Sisters and Spanish Club. After graduation he plans to attend the University of Evansville.

Justin Dooley is the son of Diana and James Patton and Terry Dooley. During high school he has played basketball and baseball.

He plans to major in business management at Western Kentucky University after graduation.

Bobby Roberts is the son of Cindy Roberts and has been a member of the basketball and baseball teams. Roberts plans to attend college and get a degree in sports management and become a basketball coach.
