Rob Henning, who died Saturday at age 52 after battling cancer for more than a year, had a long history of success in various sports fields.
The first high school sports event I covered after being hired as sports editor of the News June 1, 1978, was the Tell City baseball sectional.
Henning, a slick fielding first baseman for Tell City, helped the Marksmen win the title.
He drove in two runs with a single to right field in the Marksmen’s 13-0 championship victory over Crawford County.
