Hauenstein named as National Merit semifinalist

TELL CITY – Erika Hauenstein, a senior at Tell City Junior-Senior High School, has been named a semifinalist in the 2011 National Merit Scholarship Program.
The program is a nonprofit organization that was established in 1955 to honor the nation’s scholastic champions and encourage the pursuit of academic excellence. Across the nation, approximately 16,000 semifinalists were chosen out of 1.5 million juniors who took the 2009 preliminary SAT-National Merit Scholarship qualifying test.
Hauenstein will have an opportunity to continue in the competition for scholarships that will be offered next spring upon fulfillment of requirements for the finalist level of the competition.
Upon graduation, Hauenstein plans to attend college to major in pharmacy.
She is the daughter of John and Rhonda Hauenstein and the granddaughter of Albert and Kathleen Hauenstein of Tell City and Bill and Margie Crane of Odon.
