Hauenstein earns finalist spot in Heisman program

TELL CITY – Erika Hauenstein, a senior at Tell City Junior-Senior High School was named a state finalist in the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award program.
The Wendy’s Heisman is a rigorous scholarship program for high school seniors who maintain a B average and play at least one sport. These student-athletes must demonstrate a strong work ethic, dedication to academic and athletic achievement, community service and an ability to be role models for underclassmen.
Hauenstein is the daughter of John and Rhonda Hauenstein. She is a member of Tell City Leprechauns 4-H Club, Perry County Junior Leaders, Tell City Swim Club, student council, Key, Spanish and pep clubs and the math, English and science academic teams, Teen Advisory Group at the Tell City-Perry County Public Library and an alumni member of the Perry County Power of Youth Council.
Hauenstein is also the president of the Perry County Junior Leaders, secretary of student council and the treasurer for the Class of 2011. She is a member of the girls cross country team and girls swim team.
Her grandparents are Al and Kathleen Hauenstein of Tell City and Bill and Margie Crane of Elnora.
Hauenstein plans to attend college next fall and major in pre-pharmacy.
