HAMMOND—Former Tell City wrestler Brandon Harrison beat Milan Miltunivic in the first round Saturday to win the 145-pound amateur title in Mixed Martial Arts jujitsu mayhem cage fighting.

Harrison beat Miltunivic  from strikes as he won the match in 2 minutes, 14 seconds.

Harrison, a 2006 Tell City graduate, now lives in a Chicago suburb where he trains under Jeff and Charlie Gracie for Charlie Gracie jujitsu, a Brazilian variety of the Japanese sport.

He has risen rapidly in his weight class, as he was ranked 12th in the nation in the amateur lightweight division just seven months ago.

He still holds Tell City’s wrestling record for most career victories with 155 and was the Marksmen’s only two-time regional champion in that sport.

He was also a three-time PAC champion and three-time sectional champion for the Marksmen.

Harrison’s next fight will be July 18 in St.Charles, Ill.
