Harding propels Tell City to victory

TELL CITY - Trent Harding won all five of his individual events to lead Tell City to first place in its own fall invitational age-group swim meet Saturday.

"For a mostly young team, we swam very well," said Tell City Coach Jeff Simpson. "It was our first win in at least four years. We have had the ability to win meets in the past - we just didn't have enough swimmers go to the meets."

Harding won the age-11-12 boys 50-yard freestyle in 35.08 seconds and the 100 free in 1:24.59.

He also won the 50 breaststroke in 47.37, the 50 backstroke in 47.60, and the 100 back in 1:33.89.

Chelsea Malone won the 13-and-over girls 50 free in 26.46 and the 50 back in 33.04.

She placed second in the 100 individual medley in 1:12.88, the 100 free in 59.69, and the 100 back in 1:11.13.

Sydney Brown won the 9-10 girls 25 breast in 38.87 and the 50 back in 46.54.

She placed second in the 25 free in 18.80 and the 50 free in 38.87.

Bailey Malone won the 13-and-over girls 200 free in 2:31.19 and the 500 free in 6:42.55.

She took second in the 100 breast in 1:26.60.

Colten Smith won the 11-12 boys 100 IM in 2:04.85.

He placed second in four events: the 50 free in 47.37, the 100 free in 1:55.50, the 50 back in 58.42, and the 100 back in 2:12.00.

Emily Sprinkle won the 11-12 girls 50 back in 37.35.

She placed second in the 100 IM in 1:22.84, the 50 free in 33.30, and the 100 back in 1:20.35.

Sara Hagedorn won the 11-12 girls 50 breast in 46.56 and placed second in the 100 breast in 1:43.35.

Kaila James won the 9-10 girls 25 back in 22.56.

Samantha Stephens placed second in three 8-and-under girls events.

Colby Smith and Eli Vance each placed second in one 8-and-under boys event.
