Hammack wins top honors in national wrestling tourney

ST. JOSEPH, Mo.—Coy Hammack, 9, a Tell City Wrestling Club member, was named an All-American and the top wrestler in his age group at the American Crown Wrestling Preseason Nationals Oct. 12.

He wrestled in the age-10-and-under, 55-pound weight class, pinning his opponent in overtime to claim the title.
He also wrestled in the 10-and-under combined 50/55-pound weight class, taking first place in that bracket also.  
He wrestled nine matches that day, winning three by pins.
Based on credentials for the day, he won the Outstanding Wrestler award for the entire 10-and-under age division.
Hammack is a third grader at William Tell Elementary and has won four state titles in Indiana State Wrestling Association tourneys.
He is the son of Bryce and Kris Hammack of Tell City.
