Goffinet, McClintic make All-PAC team

TELL CITY - Lauren Goffinet and Kara McClintic of Tell City were named to the All-PAC girls basketball team in voting by conference coaches Monday.

Tell City, which tied for second in the nine-team league, was one of three teams to place two players on the squad.

Tell City Coach John Lyons said he was pleased to get two players on it. "With nine teams in the conference now (since Forest Park joined it this year) and only 10 spots open (for all-conference), that doesn't leave a lot of room."

Goffinet was the second leading vote-getter on the team and is one of just four non-seniors on it.

She led the Marksmen in scoring at 15.5 points per game, in steals at 2.2 per game, and in free-throw shooting at 76.3 percent.

She was second on the team in rebounding at 5.1 per game and in assists at 2.0 per game.

She hit 40.6 percent from three-point range and 41.9 percent from the field overall.

McClintic and Heritage Hills center Danielle LaGrange were the only repeaters from last year's team.

McClintic was the sixth leading vote-getter on the team. She missed the Marksmen's first two conference games with a broken hand, which may have cost her a few votes.

But she came back strong to average 12.8 points per game and led the Marksmen in assists with 4.4 per game.

She hit 41.3 percent from three-point range, which may have been the best of any player in the conference (Gibson Southern's Lauren Zeabart was also right at 41 percent).

She hit 66.1 percent of her free throws.

She is the Marksmen's career leader in assists with 282 and set the team's single-season record with 103 assists last year.

LaGrange was the top vote-getter on the team but will not play college basketball, as she has accepted a volleyball scholarship to Indiana University.

Tell City center Dana Sibrel was one of 13 players to receive honorable mention on the team.

She averaged 9.3 points and a team-high 7.3 rebounds per game for the Marksmen.
