CARMEL—Perry Central’s Sydney Goffinet went 1 for 3 to help the South sweep a doubleheader with the North in Indiana’s annual North-South girls softball senior all-star doubleheader Saturday.

The South beat the north 2-0 in the first game and 8-2 in the second game.
Goffinet started at first base for the South team in both games, playing it three innings in the first game and two innings in the second game.
There were 21 players on each team and all of them were in the batting order the entire time, so no one batted more than three times, with some of those lower in the lineup only getting to bat twice.
Goffinet batted sixth. Three of the batters higher in the lineup were Miss Indiana softball candidates and another is going to play for Indiana State University.  The girl that batted fourth will play for the University of Georgia.
Goffinet belted a line-drive single to left field for her hit.
She faced a different pitcher each time at bat, and all of them will pitch for college teams.
The South had five hits in the first game and nine in the second. The North had only two hits in the first game and seven in the second.
Other area players on the South team included Tiffany Summers from Tecumseh, Carolyn Wilmes from Mater Dei, and Kayala Hoppenjans and Kaitlyn Kralj of Heritage Hills.
