JASPER — German American Bancorp announced this week that it is uniting all banking, insurance and investment offices under the common name German American. Under this change, First State Bank and First State Insurance – acquired by German American in 1994 and 2009, respectively – will be adopting the German American brand.

"We have been successful thanks to the strong relationships with our customers and communities and we will continue to be deeply rooted within the local community, engaged with our customers through strong, dependable service and hard work," said Mark Schroeder, chairman and chief executive officer of German American. "Our people, values, ownership, commitments and our local decision making will remain exactly the same."

Over the next few months, German American will revise its signs and communications materials to reflect the unified brand, German American – banking, insurance and investments.

"We'll still be the same organization you've worked with for years, only now we are going to be a larger, more unified family," Schroeder added. "And that means building increased awareness among our customers and a recognized larger presence throughout all of southern Indiana."

German American is a NASDAQ-traded financial services company, offering banking, insurance and investment products and services through 35 offices in 10 southern Indiana counties. In June 2009, German American, headquartered in Jasper, Ind., was added to the Russell 2000 Index and the Russell 3000 Index.
